Built by the family, on the only plot that mattered

When these villas went up, nothing else stood on this stretch of coast. Our grandparents picked the spot for one reason: the small gulf below, where the water is calm and shallow enough for children and deep enough, thirty metres out, to swim properly.

Every villa faces it. Wide glass doors open onto a balcony or patio, and at night you sleep with the sound of the water. There is a kitchen in each one, so you can eat in when you want to — though the tavernas are a five-minute walk.

Each one is self-catering, with a kitchenette, safe and private outdoor space. Air conditioning is available for a small daily charge; a cot is free on request.

On the property

A pool, a beach, and not much noise

The pool has a hydromassage corner and is surrounded by loungers and umbrellas facing the open sea. Parking is free and on site. We are a small family operation — there is no restaurant, but there is always someone at reception.

Within half an hour

Discover the area

Hersonissos is busy when you want it to be and easy to leave when you don't. Everything below is a short drive, and most of it is a walk.

The water

Romantica beach is directly below. Star Beach water park is a kilometre east if the children want slides instead of sand, and the harbour at Hersonissos has boat trips most mornings.

Villages & tavernas

Koutouloufari and Piskopiano sit in the hills ten minutes up, with stone lanes and family tavernas that stay open late. Better food and half the crowds of the strip.

Antiquities

Knossos is under half an hour away, and the Heraklion Archaeological Museum holds what was found there. Closer to home, the Lychnostatis open-air museum is a five-minute walk.

You can sit on the balcony in the evening and hear the waves on the shore, then walk to a dozen tavernas.
